The pride of the North, Fancy Gadam has revealed in a new interview that he nearly bowed out of the music scene days after his fans died in a ghastly motor accident on the day of his mega concert scheduled for the Tamale Sports Stadium.
The accident, which reportedly occurred in June-2018 in Tamale when Fancy Gadam was welcoming Patoranking to a concert they were both billed as headliners, killed 8 people whiles several others were injured.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on the DayBreak Hitz, the ‘Total Cheat’ hit maker said the incident sent cold shivers down his marrow which made him resolved to quite music entirely.
“I was at the airport already with Patoranking and I went there with the fan base but some few fans were coming to meet us up at the airport and the incident happened and I had to cancel my concert because of the accident that happened,” he narrated.
“It wasn’t easy for me. I nearly stopped the music”, he said. “You know, for somebody to love you, support you and die for you, it’s not easy. So, I nearly stopped music but because of the encouragement from my fan base and then my management, they give me the hope to work again,” he added.
He revealed how the family of the deceased took the news:
“Northern Region, we are one family so the families took it cool, everybody understands everything. They said I am also their son or their daughter so, everybody was like those that lost their people took it like it was God’s grace and then they welcome me, I went to visit every family that lost their children so whatever happened we give it to almighty Allah,” he said.
Fancy also spoke about the decision to cancel the concert:
“It was not the mayor that shut down my concert. I personally, I and my management cancelled the concert because of what happened.
“Because no matter how the money we invested in that concert can’t buy life so myself and my management cancelled the concert”, he continued.
