Information from the La Dadekotopon Constituency indicates that the NPP Member of Parliament for the area, Vincent Odotei Sowah has threatened to go independent if he loses the primary.
A deep throat source closed to this Portal alleged that the Hon. MP hinted that he will be forced to go independent if the NPP, delegates in La Constituency fail to endorse him as the parliamentary candidate to contest for his second term.
Mr. Odotei Sowah known in the Constituency as Obama won the Parliamentary seat in 2016 with over 40, 000 votes representing 50.58 percent to beat the incumbent, Nii Amasah Namoale who polled 38,504 representing 48.54 percent.
He promised prior to the 2016 general elections, to mobilise spirited public individuals to transform the La Dadekotopon Constituency when elected the next MP. “Ghana needs a new crop of professionals with vast experience and a good track record who are committed and ready to add value and change the face of politics in the Constituency” he emphasised during his campaign.
The source disclosed that the MP has failed the people of La Dade-Kotopon of promised development and support for the youth with employment among other things.
It further alleged that Mr. Odotei Sowah who is also the Deputy Minister for Communication has neglected the constituent, especially the youth who supported him to win the Parliamentary seat.
The source pointed out that the Deputy Minister is also not playing his expected role as a Member of Parliament for the area, concentrating on his ministerial post and his businesses.
He added that, the MP has suddenly become inaccessible and unpopular in the Constituency for which reason NPP delegates had decided to punish him by voting him out.
Sources indicate that, Mr. Odotei’s main contender in the 2015 NPP primaries and a financier of the party in the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Oscar Nii Odoi Glover intends to contest him again. Another name circulating in the Constituency is a Ghanaian business magnate, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley will also contest the MP in the upcoming primaries.
