I don’t use awards to weigh my success but the impacts of my songs – Kofi Kinaata

Team Move President, Kofi Kinaata has revealed that he is not worried about recent snub by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards because he doesn’t measure his success in the music industry by awards but by the impacts his songs make.

Speaking on Spice 91.9 FM’s Drive Time Show (Keteke), the Susuka hitmaker admitted that he has to beef up his team but don’t think he is on the decline because of his inability not to get award nominations.

“For extra hands, everyone needs some but if you use Vodafone Ghana Music Awards as your measurement of success, then you don’t know what you are doing, because we were all here when Total Cheat by Fancy Gadam won most Most Popular song in 2018 ahead of One Corner by Patapaa and one will say Patapaa didn’t do well because he didn’t win an award, so it is wrong to use an award scheme to measure your success as an artiste” Kinaata said.

Kofi Kinaata also revealed the impacts his songs are having on his fans and others.

“The real award is when someone confesses that had it not been your song, he would have lost his life and tried something dangerous. People call me on numerous occasions to tell me how my songs saved their lives; recently, I had similar call when I went to 3 FM”.
