Farmers at Atwima Nkorang Community, surrounding villages in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District have appealed to the government to facilitate the granting of loans to them for the expansion of their farms.
According to them, they appreciate the efforts government is making to improve the agric sector, a lot more needed to be done. lack of funds is a major drawback on increased production because farmers lacked the resources with which to expand their farms.
*MEANWHILE*: Kumasi Fruit Sellers Association have made a passionate appeal to farmers (in fruits cultivation) to stop or minimize the use of some chemical (like Amonia, etc) in their farming practices.
The Chairperson for the Association, Mad. Naomi Serwah, who confirmed said because of the chemicals the farmers use, it does not make the fruits last for long and it is badly affecting their business.
*However;* Mr Addai Frimpong Director of (B. kaakyire Agro Chemicals company Ltd ), appealed to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to help find solutions to a number of challenges facing farmers.
He enumerated some of the challenges as the lack of drying machines, pumping machines, trashing machines and the lack of fertilizers and credit facilities.
