STAY NEUTRAL IN THE NOMINATION PROCESS – Jeff Konadu tells Constituency Executives in Orphan Constituencies in Eastern Region.

 

The Eastern Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Jeff Konadu Addo has sent a strong directive to all constituency executives in the orphan Constituencies where the party has opened Nominations to stay completely neutral in the nomination process, campaign process and the election of the aspirants during the constituency delegate’s congress.

In a letter to all constituency executives, Mr Jeff Konadu said that this directive to remain neutral will help maintain sanity, reduce tension and also help with any reconciliation effort in the aftermath of the constituency delegate’s congress.

He tasked the Executives to be seen as and remain completely neutral even though each of them may have their preferred aspirants.

“The Regional Party may consider appropriate sanctions on any Constituency Executive who openly disobey this directive,” the Regional Secretary said.

“The constituency elections committee has been tasked to remain fair and neutral in all aspects of the nomination process and must remain so in the entire process from nominations to elections of our parliamentary candidates”, Mr Addo said.

It would be recalled that the New Patriotic Party on Saturday 20th July Opened nomination for all the 106 orphan constituencies across the country.

The Eastern Region has 6 orphan constituencies namely: Afram Plains North, Afram Plains South, Upper West Akim, Yilo Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo and Asuogysman.

Nominations have been opened in all the orphan constituencies with no issues or troubles heard so far.

“Yes, I believe so far prospective aspirants are making needed consultations before going to pick up their nomination forms. We have strictly instructed the committees and all the executives to fairly assist any aspirant who comes forward to pick up their forms”.

Furthermore, after the vetting is completed, those that come out successfully will have unrestricted access to all the delegates to the campaign.

So far 2 people who have picked up the forms in Upper West Akim, 2 at Lower Manya Krobo and 2 also at Yilo Krobo. Nominations close on 3rd August 2019.
