You won’t be stopping cars for GH¢20 cedis if you were paid well – Efia Odo jabs Ghana Police for trying to stop #FixTheCountry demo

Ghanaian actress Efia Odo believes the Ghana Police needs to appreciate the efforts being made by Ghanaians to demand better from leaders and move away from stopping the #FixTheCountry demo.

According to the socialite, she does not understand why the Ghana Police is bent on using all legal means and possibly intimidations to suppress the voices of Ghanaians.

This address from Efia Odo comes on the back of an earlier move by the Ghana Police Service in stopping the widely publicized #FixTheCountry demo which was suspended due to a court’s injunction.

The injunction which was brought against the demo by the police was lifted yesterday by the Supreme Court. The court nullified the injunction and paved the way for the demonstration to come off.

But in subsequent development, it appears the Ghana Police Service is poised on using other legal means to stop the #FixTheCountry demo from coming off.

This, Efia Odo believes is a bad move by the Ghana Police Service since the demonstration is in the best interest of the nation especially for the officers who due to the meagre salary they receive have to rely daily on extorting money from drivers on the road.

Efia Odo said Ghanaians have the right to protest hence the strong barrier built by the police to quash all attempts being made by the #FixTheCountry campaigners will not inure to the good of the nation.

She wrote: The aggression to stop this demonstration is totally unnecessary. If the police were paid well some of them won’t be stopping big cars and asking for 20 cedis, I’ve witnessed it. They even take money from Uber drivers. What are you people so afraid of? We have a right to protest
