Lecturer of the University Of Cape Coast(UCC), Dr. Mrs. Alberta Bondzi-Simpson has discouraged students from forming or engaging in a relationship on campus.
According to her, students should make friends with the opposite sex but they shouldn’t make anyone special.
Dr. Alberta Bondzi-Simpson also indicated a lot of relationships on campus don’t lead to marriage.
She further opined that students go through emotional and psychological torture when they engage in a relationship which affect their studies.
“A lot of the students go through a lot of emotional and psychological torture that really affect their education when they engage in any relationship.”
“It’s not really about the relationship it is about the nature of the relationship. The relationship is not you are my friend. You are my wife because she will do things for the partner like a wife will do. It is very difficult when you add all these to your studies.”
“We have gotten situations where students have committed suicide on campus or students have been suicidal. They move from ‘I will kill myself’ to ‘I will kill him’.The beginning of madness is very easy especially when you add relationship to studies you will go mad.My advice to students is that have a lot of friends because the probability that you will marry your mate is very slim” Dr. Alberta Bondzi-Simpson told Abeiku Santana in an interview on Okay FM.
