The government of Ghana is on course with the process to finalize the digital terrestrial switch for television broadcasting. This decision is part of government’s digitalization agenda.

Ursula Owusu Ekuful, the Minister for Communication, in an interview with the press has revealed that; “once the processes are finalized, what that means is that you should be getting ready to pay for your transmission fees; because the government has been carrying it for free so far and it will not continue in perpetuity”.

She added that, “this is just to prepare your mind that we are nearly at the end of this journey; a lot was done before we came into power in 2017, a lot has been done since we also took over, and we are nearly at the end of this journey.
Meanwhile, she thanked all the broadcasters who had partnered with the ministry in this journey, as well as, all the stakeholders who had also spent time and energy to contribute and make an input into making the digitization process a reality.

Moreover, she stressed that, very soon, Ghana would be switching off to the television digitization; and she expressed her satisfaction of the improvements thus far.
