You Can Sometimes Stop Taking Car And Just Walk – Kokofu Tells Ghanaians Over Fuel Price Increment

The cries of Ghanaians about rising fuel prices appear to have had no effect, as prices continue to rise from time to time.

Fuel prices have recently approached Ghc8 per liter, and as a result, transport companies have been forced to raise fares, which will undoubtedly burden some passengers.

Not only are commercial vehicle drivers and passengers affected by the latest price hike, but some private car owners are also affected.

In light of these difficulties, the public has been clamoring on the government to either stabilize or lower fuel costs.

While the government works around the clock to find answers to the petrol price crisis, Ghanaians, according to Henry Kwabena Kokofu, Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency, have a duty to play in ensuring that fuel costs do not rise any more.

Henry Kokofu, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” Friday morning, said that many individuals are not utilizing fuel productively, which has a detrimental influence on the petroleum sector.

As a result, he recommended car owners and drivers across the country to conserve fuel by using it sparingly.

He stated that individuals should not always drive to every area, and that car owners or drivers should occasionally park their automobiles and merely walk, citing some of the things he would have Ghanaians stop or inspect.

He also found it unsettling that practically every Ghanaian wishes to own a car, arguing that instead, there should be a large number of commercial buses transporting people to and from work.

“What can we do to minimize costs in a beneficial way?” Some causes make it necessary for us to save energy. We need to put it to good use. Second, if you don’t service your car, it will become old and its consumption rate will increase. Your money is also squandering away when you spark your car and rev the engine while smoke is flowing out of the exhaust pipe…”
