Sylvester Asare (ASP),Esq., the CID’s Head of Legal and Prosecution, has cautioned that paddling a lady’s buttocks can result in a three-year prison sentence.
Contact a girl’s body without her permission is an assault, according to the ASP, “because it’s harassment, you’re harassing her, it’s sexual harassment…the touching of the body alone is an attack.”
Mr Asare told Dakyehene Ofosu Agyeman on TV — XYZ’s “My Lawyer My Counselor” show that such an act is classified as a misdemeanor and that the court will impose a fine.
“The court will fine such a person; it’s a misdemeanor, therefore the individual may be fined, and if the fee is not paid, the person may be sentenced to jail,” he said.
Nonetheless, if one is charged with violence, he may be sentenced to three years in prison.
“Jail time might range from six months to three years,” he added.
