Drivers threatened to block the road as the Regional Minister tours the 3 Amenfi Districts from Thursday, July 21 to Saturday.

According to reports, drivers wanted to welcome him with a demonstration over the road’s deplorable nature, which is a significant concern to them as it affects their businesses negatively.

Information indicates the Regional Minister upon having a piece of first-hand information on the plan boarded a helicopter to his location to avoid the road blockage, as quoted by skyypowerfm.com.

However, the drivers were disappointed in not meeting the minister as they wanted to share their grievances with the hope that the road will be fixed soon.

They claimed to fix the road is long overdue and they are tired of empty promises hence the action they are taking.

A driver said they make no profit from their business because, at the end of the day’s work, they spend a lot on servicing their vehicles and the deplorable nature of the road also consumes too much fuel.

Also, they have petitioned the MCEs of Amenfi East, West and Central on many occasions but are yet to see any action on the road.

Further information suggests the Minister will meet the Ghana Private Road Transport (GPRTU) executives in the Amenfi districts to discuss a solution to the road problem before leaving.
