Thomas Kusi Boafo, the Chief Executive Officer for Public Sector Reforms, has stated that he does not agree with those advocating for the suspension or revision of the free SHS policy.
The Free SHS program, according to Kusi Boafo, has made life easier for Ghanaians.
On the Wontumi TV Morning Show on Friday, he urged the government to continue to fund the policy even if it was down to its last dime.
According to the CEO of the Public Sector Reforms, the policy will develop good leaders for the country.
He said that education in the country has not suffered as a result of the policy’s implementation.
He added that while Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s implementation of free SHS in the northern sector was fraught with difficulties, he never considered canceling or revising it.
Kusi Boafo revealed that individuals who were given the free SHS became Presidents and prospered, but that they never demanded a reassessment.
He stated that the government must not disappoint the children who will be the future leaders, and that we must make sacrifices and refrain from complacency.
