We will not Allow Government To Sell Any Part Of Ghana’s Oilfields To A Foreign Company – Minority

The government’s effort to enable an offshore corporation to control any part of Ghana’s Jubilee and TEN oil fields will be met with opposition, according to the Minority in Parliament.

John Abdulai Jinapor, the Minority’s energy spokesperson and Ranking Member on the Mines and Energy Committee, stated in a statement that the interests of Ghanaians will be emphasized in all decisions made by Parliament.

“The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation’s intention to acquire 7% of the Jubilee and TEN oil fields ceded to it by Kosmos Energy as part of a $750 million acquisition of Oxy’s shareholding in October 2021 has been closely watched by the Minority in Parliament.”

“We’ve also learned of the formation of an offshore company in the Cayman Islands to hold the 7% shareholding, with the GNPC’s Chief Executive and Board Chairman functioning as the company’s Directors,” he added in a statement.
