On the 10th of April 2019, His excellency the president of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Dr Bawumia invited the Chiefs and people of Northern Region and cut sod for the construction of an interchange for the people of Tamale and also launched a $2b Sinohydro deal.
The Tamale Interchange project, which is expected to be completed within 30 months, is about one kilometre (km) long and links the Kumasi Road through the Point 7 Road, the Central Taxi Rank, Central Market intersection with the Melcolm Road and Bolgatanga Road.
Exactly two months from today, there is no sight of the contractor and not even a single brick or iron rod is on sight. Where is the contractor? And what is happening?
The President has constantly deceived the Good people of the North and has taken us for granted. Talk of the One Village One Dam, One Million Dollar per every Constituency, One District One Factory, One District One Warehouse. These have become nothing but a clear deception and a slap on the faces of Ghanaians and the Northern sector to be specific. Based on their constant deceptions, we must not allow this project to be another lie. Let’s ensure this project is carried out as scheduled.
Again, an artistic impression of the project was copied from South Africa Durban, just like they copied the Dawwit Insurance Building in Kenya For Ghana Beyond Aid. Ghana has become a “serial copy-copy” country.
Surprisingly, a small signboard has been erected at the old Teysec yard and a small wall built, just to mislead people in to thinking that something is going on. We refused to be misled Mr President.
What is the state of the interchange? who is the contractor? Where is he? Why has the construction not started? Is the President adding to his lies? Two clear months after Assembling the eminent Chiefs and elders of our land, nothing what so ever is being done.
“When a person die at the market, there is no need to announce his or her funeral” President Akofu Addo and Dr Bawumia have lied their way to powers and have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that they are comfortable with the numerous embarrassments and deceits they peddle around inn and outside the country. At the the Women Deliver forum in Canada, the President embarrassed himself and the entire nation and his appointee are jumping from media house to media house trying to defend the indefensible.
I am therefore calling on everyone from the North to be concerned about this project and make sure this time around, the President does not take us for granted. I am also calling on the NPP branch executives who threatened to beat up Hon Musah Superior and also threatened to undertake a massive demonstration against this deceitful Government and the President acted swiftly by giving them appointment at MASLOC and other places to milk the nation. It is as though he is quick to listen to them and for that reason, they should do the same for the interchange to start.
I am a citizen and not a spectator as the president indicated in his plagiarized inaugural speech. So I am calling on the people of the North to stop being spectators and fight for this project.
