Wassa Manso Assemblyman blames okada riders and galamseyers for high teenage pregnancy rate

The Assemblyman for Wassa Manso is putting blame on commercial motorcycle riders popularly known as okada and illegal small scale miners, also known as galamsayers for the increasing rate of teenage pregnancy in the town.

Mr. Kwesi Boaheng was speaking to Skyy Power 93.5FM’s Nana Yaw Kumi, when he made it known that, teenagers in the ages of 12 to 14 years are been lured with fast foods, particularly Indomie by these men to indulge in sexual act.

Talking about the galamseyers, he disclosed that, most of the men who get teenagers pregnant are not from the town but only come there to mine gold which after getting some money, they trap young girls into sex act.

According to him, the motorcycle and tricycle riders are from the Wassa Manso township which after the days work, they parade themselves at the town centre to attract these young girls, using fast foods to have their way with them.

Mr. Boaheng alleged that, most communities with high galamsey and commercial motorcycle activities are fond of recording high teenage pregnancy rates.

He recommended education and empowerment for female youth in these type of communities, as that will be a good measure to redirect their life path.
