Sefwi Bekwai Cocoa farmers association numbering over, one thousand and five hundred (1,500) are to receive financial and management support to increase productivity and help the country meet the annual production target of one million tonnes of cocoa.
Speaking to the Chairman of the Association, Mr Issifu Issaka said, Amenfiman Rural Bank limited has supported farmers with loans so as boost more yield for the annual harvest.He stated that farmers should well to pay back their loans in other to receive more in terms of their operation.
Our meeting for today with two hundred executives (200) to discuss challenges and disseminate information to their colleague members.
We see it as very challenging as government alone cannot take the responsibility conferred to every farmer, so there was the need for us to help.
A representative from COCOBOD, Mr Anthony Apenteng, Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED) edclucate farmers on the management of pruning, fertilizer and pesticide application to farmers and also advised that the loans being given must be use for the intended purposes.
Some of the Cocoa farmers who were confronted also shear their outfit to the media for the education Agric officers offered to them.
