VRA / NEDCO set to introduce new prepaid meters with Mobile Money payment features

The Volta River Authority of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (VRA/NEDCo) is set to introduce new prepaid meters with Mobile Money (Momo) features where its customers can easily purchase prepaid credit for their meters in the comfort of their homes through the Momo service

The innovation, when implemented will reduce the stress in the current situation where VRA customers have to go through the pain of getting to buy power by visiting VRA offices or nearby sales points.

Customer Service Officer of VRA/NEDCo, Alhaj Danjumma Abdulai, in an interview on A1 Radio said a number of initiatives have been undertaken by the utility provider as part of efforts to bring its services closer to customers.

He revealed that his outfit had taken delivery of the new meters in Tamale and would be transported to Bolgatanga to commence its implementation in the Upper East operational Area after the Christmas holidays.

According to him, the new meters come with 2 special features.

To purchase prepaid credit using the Momo service, Alhaj Danjumma explained that customers can simply buy through their mobile money accounts anytime, anywhere; and the credit will electronically be fed into the customer’s meter.

Alternatively, he said customers can visit any VRA/NEDCo sales point to buy credit and after a successful transaction, the customer’s meter will automatically be credited with the amount purchased.

Alhaj Danjumma believes the introduction of the new meters with Momo features will eliminate the stress prepaid customers go through to recharge their units.
