About two years ago, a Deputy Minister of Agriculture said he knew for a fact that northerners were lazy characters who had the penchant for concocting deceit and had difficulty in comprehending ordinary decent discourse.
Today, a substantive Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto, is also caught in a video interview with Evans Mensah on JoyNews PM Express making
Scurrilous, disparaging and unguarded statement seeking to denigrate northerners to the effect that we are now able to ride new motor bikes and put up modern buildings made of cement and shining roofings because of the monetary proceeds of the shambolic and woefully implemented Planting for Food and Jobs programme.
We, the Northern Youth for Peace and Development is outraged, appalled and disgusted by this unruly utterances and therefore call on H.E Akuffo Addo to sack Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie to serve as a deterrent to other public office holders of his government, lest we vote against the NPP because we gave you the opportunity to serve and not to be engaging in ethnocentric bigotry.
Furthermore, we have intercepted a statement issued by one Issah Alhassan Ridwan(Press Secretary to the Minister) and not the Minister himself purporting to have taken the Minister out of context of this sordid act.
To us, Issah Alhassan Ridwan is a crass disgrace to the entirety of Northern youth for allowing himself to be used as conduit and his bent attempt to defend the indefensible to extricate the Minister.
Mr Issah Ridwan should note that he can only be used for this dirty job and dumped at the end of the day.
Why should Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie chew his pepper for you to sweat for it?
We believe this gesture of a release is a hypocritic afterthought and clandestine move which can not assuage the profound pain and huge damage done to the good image and integrity of the hardworking people of the Northern Regions.
We wish to call on other regional teeming youth and Ghanaians who cherish the unity, peace, stability and development to unconditionally and unreservedly condemn and demand the sacking of Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie for this crass ethnic bigotry.
In conclusion, we wish to entreat the Nana-Bawumia government to find lasting solutions to the excruciating hardship and unemployment bestowed on Northerners.
