Use Of Motorbikes Banned In Bawku

Motorbikes are prohibited in Bawku, according to the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council.

The move is part of a broader effort by the UN Security Council to restore peace in the region following recent confrontations.

Both male and female riders are affected by the action. Tricycles, on the other hand, are not included.

The regional security council banned pillion from the area on January 10, 2021. A pillion seat is a passenger seat attached to the back of a motorcycle. Women riders, on the other hand, are not prohibited from picking up other women on their bikes.

Four persons were reported to have been killed in the fresh gunshots on Sunday evening.

According to a source, the shooting which allegedly started in the morning of Sunday, January 23, was first heard around the central business area of the town which has been embroiled in sporadic shootings since November 2021.
