Two Chiefs Remanded Over Involvement In Assassination Attempt

The Ofaakor District Court has remanded two traditional chiefs in connection with an assassination plot against the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh Nana Abor Attah in Ghana’s Central Region.

Nana Essel Amanquandoh III, the Odikro of Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba, and Nana Yaw Kudu Manu, the Omankrado of Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba, have been detained in police prison until January 19, 2022, when they will reappear.

Background

On Sunday, December 19, 2021, the Ghana Police Service’s anti-robbery squad killed at least five people who were planning to assassinate Gomoa Fetteh Nana Abor Atta, the paramount chief of Gomoa Fetteh.

The police have yet to release any information regarding the operation, which was based on a tip. According to eyewitnesses, two of the gunmen escaped.
