Hundreds of residents of Tema Site 1 & 2 defied heavy rains to interact with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate, who was on a tour of the Tema East Constituency to sell the NPP’s message of jobs and prosperity to the people.
After touring the Tema Newtown Market, Canoe Beach, Fish Market and holding a mini-rally at Kpleto Shishi, Dr. Bawumia joined worshippers at the Tema Central Mosque to say Jummah Prayers. Heavy rains, however, set in soon after but this could not disrupt the programme as hundreds of market women and drivers at the Tema Community 1 Market poured out to welcome and interact with the NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, who visited the market to discuss issues of mutual concern.
From the market, Dr Bawumia moved to Site 1 & 2 for another mini-rally where hundreds more also defied the rains, which had intensified, to attend the Rally and listen to the MP for the area, Titus Glover and Dr. Bawumia.
“What I have seen here and what you have done means that whether rain or shine, Nana Akufo-Addo will be elected as President come November or December 7. It also tells me that Titus Glover will be re-elected as Member of Parliament for Tema East”, Dr. Bawumia said on Friday, as he opened his remarks at the Rally.
Dr. Bawumia indicated that the NPP was committed to overhauling the economy and noted that the NPP as a pro-business party, is the only option to creating jobs and wealth for the people of Ghana.
“The Ports are a major part of the economy and we have for example pledged that we will reduce import duties, especially on raw materials and manufacturing equipment so businesses can expand and create jobs.
“We will build an economy of jobs so our youth can find jobs and this is why we must all go to and vote on November or December 7 for Nana Akufo-Addo,” Dr Bawumia stated.
Time to Get John Mahama Out of the Driver’s Seat
Speaking at an earlier mini-rally at Kpleto Shishi, Dr. Bawumia wondered if Ghanaians voted for hardships (Wahala) or voted for the government to bring relief to the people, as the current NDC government had specialised in creating hard times for the people of Ghana, despite the unprecedented resources at their disposal.
Detailing the hardships on various fronts Ghanaians have been burdened with, Dr Bawumia asked rhetorically, “So did we vote for a government to make things hard for the people or we vote for governments to make our lives better?”
“John Mahama is driving this country in the wrong direction and that is why on November or December 7, we have to bring him down and put Nana Akufo-Addo behind the steering wheel to steer us in the right direction.
“We will not build a kaakaamotobi economy. We will build an economy of jobs so that people can take care of themselves. Taxes will be brought down to allow production to go up and that will in turn bring more revenue and create the needed jobs. We are a party of business and a party for the people and it is the goal of Nana Akufo-Addo to build the most people friendly economy in Africa”, Dr. Bawumia said.
