There’s no expiration date for marriage; stop asking me why I’m still not married – Vivian Jill

Kumawood actress Vivian Jill Lawrence has said there is no expiration date for marriage and, thus, has advised singles to be patient.

The actress was speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra100.5FM’s Ayeeko Ayeeko show on Tuesday, 5 May 2020.

Narrating her experience on how some persons constantly bother her with marriage, the actress said: “Some people even ask: ‘Why, at your age, you’re working, you’re pretty, so, why aren’t you married?’ Must I come and tell you? Do I have to say everything in public? No. I was not brought up that way”, she said.

“When it comes to marriage, sometimes people are in relationships in which the men are abusing them but they can’t come and say it publicly. When they say it, instead of receiving empathy, they’re rather insulted. I can’t come and tell people what’s going on in my relationship and why I’m not married because of what I’ve been through. I can’t come and tell people. I have a private life.”

She further stated: “Marriage has no expiration date or deadline; it’s childbirth that has an expiration date. There’s no expiration date for marriage. My mother’s best friend got married at the age of 54. She was on her way to the market when she met a man who said he would marry her, and he did.  There’s no deadline for getting married. If you push and it doesn’t work, you leave it to God”.

Vivian Jill advised singles to be patient and wait for the appointed time.
