Sulley Muntari’s Apology Letter Pops Up As Calls For Black Stars Return Heighten

Since his performance for Accra Hearts of Oak in a goalless draw against Kumasi Asante Kotoko on February 20, 2022, requests for legendary midfielder Sulley Muntari to be recalled to the Black Stars have grown.

What began as a few calls from ecstatic Hearts of Oak fans has grown into widespread speculation that the former Inter Milan midfielder could be named to Ghana’s World Cup play-off team against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The topic of his ability to play for the Black Stars has arisen amid requests for his return, owing to his suspected role in the 2014 World Cup disaster.

According to reports, Muntari was requested by the Dzamefe Committee to apologize for his role, but he ignored the advice.

However, as the accusations spread, GhanaWeb has discovered a letter of apology written by the player and published by the Ghana Football Association.

Muntari apologized for his behavior in the letter and stated that he would be available for national team call-ups.

“I write to convey my heartfelt regret to the Ghana Football Association and the entire nation for whatever disgrace my actions in Brazil caused the Black Stars Team, the Ghana Football Association, and my beloved country Ghana.”

“I’ve thought about what happened, and I’d like to express my sincere regret and apology to all GFA stakeholders who were hurt by my conduct.”

“Ghana holds a particular place in my heart, and I will be eternally grateful to my country and all of my followers for their unwavering support.”

The letter adds, “I am always available to play for the Senior National Team of Ghana anytime I am invited.”

Muntari could be part of Ghana’s roster for the encounter against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on March 25 at the Accra Sports Stadium if picked.

The 37-year-old might possibly be a member of the team that travels to Abuja on March 29 for the second leg.
