Students Have Still Not Reported To School Despite Free SHS – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ashanti Region has revealed that most first year students expected in various senior high schools in the area have not reported yet.

Speaking in an interview, the Public Relations Officer, Mark Ofori expressed worry that the situation has become an annual routine.

“There are some of the students who have no idea about their placement while others are still looking for schools. Some are also still in the forest and haven’t heard of it,” he told Oyerepa FM.

A month ago, GES released the computer placement list for the new students who were to be admitted to various secondary schools across the country.

This notwithstanding, the GES says most students have still not reported.

A section of Ghanaians, however, blamed it on their inability to meet all the requirements on the prospectus.

Earlier, the Education Minister, Dr Yaw Adutwum asked parents to ignore the items on the prospectus and take their children to school.

The GES in the Ashanti Region has now joined the calls for parents to take their children to school.

Although the schools are on the verge of vacation, Mr Ofori insisted that students can still go to their various schools for admission.
