Members of Sofoline Drivers Union Association are planning to stage a demonstration against authorities of KMA over the latter’s failure to complete the construction of the popular sofoline bus terminal at the time it was under their jurisdiction.
Aggrieved executives disclosed to GHANAWISH. Com that the architectural makeup of the Sofoline Bus Terminal at Kwadaso on grounds at the moment is deficient of most of the facilities captured in the original drawing of the project.
They are claiming that sofoline bus terminal as it stands now is not a full reflection of the original drawing of the project and that some facilities captured in the drawing were not constructed by the contractor Messrs Rock Everest Trading and Construction at the watch of authorities of KMA which was then under the leadership of Hon Kojo Bonsu, former Mayor for the assembly.
According to the Chairman for the Association Mr. Albert Boamah, some facilities covered in the original drawing were not constructed by Hon Kojo Bonsu before exiting office . They are a 20-seater water closet and a Urinal facility, 10 No. 50-seater capacity passenger waiting sheds (some still not constructed), No. 1 police post for 5 officers with 2-seater WC toilet(uncompleted for utilization) and a walk way pavement( some uncompleted).
A toilet facility which is currently in use now according to him belongs to a private developer and is even located on a tract of land which is a distance away from the terminal.
Mr. Boamah said he was expecting the current administration to see to the construction of the neglected facilities when he took over from Hon Kojo Bonsu. “Unfortunately this current administration has until now failed to put up these facilities which were captured in the project” he narrated.
” I want to question authorities of KMA on why the contract sum of GHs 2,176,597.90 provided for the project couldn’t cover the construction of those facilities at the watch of the assembly and the where about of the remainder (if any) of the contract sum since the facilities were not constructed or completed. “Why did Hon Kojo Bonsu, the then Mayor fail to see to the construction of those facilities?; was any money left by him ( Hon Kojo Bonsu) as a remainder of the GH2,176,597.90) for the construction of the neglected facilities before he left office?” he questioned.
Mr. Albert Boamah indicated that nothing will restrain them from staging a protest against KMA officials if they fail to give a tangible response to the above questions raised
