Social Media Is For People Above 80 Years – Duncan Williams

Contrary to an accepted belief which has essentially become a reality that social media is for young people in the world today, Founder and Leader of the Action Chapel International Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has said such platforms are meant for aged persons who have retired from active service.

Currently, major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp are largely occupied by the youth. This in the opinion of the revered preacher is wrong and a distraction to young people.

Speaking at the 2019 International Youth Empowerment Summit (IYES) at the National Theatre currently being attended by thousands of young people from around the country, Archbishop Duncan Williams said “If you want to accomplish anything in life, go off social media. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat…get out of all these stuff. They are all distractions’’.

According to him, social media is best fit for persons above age 80 who have no much to struggle for in life.

“Those things…they are for old people…80 and 90-year-olds who have finished everything they want to do in life that they have nothing to do. Then they stay there and they are chatting…Those of your age, you have no time” he advised.

He admonished the youth to endeavour to be focused on their goals in life and not be distracted by non-profitable activities including social media addiction.
