Incumbent MP for Klottey Korle constituency, Nii Armah Ashietey and Nii John Coleman; who both lost in the primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) filed a suit praying the Court to prevent Dr. Zanetor Rawlings from holding herself out as parliamentary candidate-elect for the constituency on the ticket of the NDC.

Acording to them, the daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings’ election was unlawful because she is not a registered voter.

A few days ago, Nii John Coleman withdrew from the case.

Nii Armah, however, is bent on going the whole hog.

Wading into the fray is the Central Regional NDC Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs.

The NDC stalwart has asked Nii Armah Ashietey to drop the case as a mark of gratitude to former President Rawlings.

I plead with Nii Armah Ashietey to stop what he is doing….it is not right especially because he knows the inside politics of the NDC. I feel he is showing an act of ingratitude to former President Rawlings because he (Nii Armah) gained his foundation in politics by the help of President Rawlings (former). He should just step aside for Zanetor because it is a cool chop for her” he stated during a panel discussion on Wednesday’s edition of PeaceFM‘s ‘Kokrokoo’.

Nii Armah Ashietey shot into the limelight in the early 90s.

He started his political career under then President Jerry John Rawlings as the Mayor of Tema for 8 years. He was once the Greater Accra Regional Minster under the administration of the late Prof John Evans Atta Mills and later served as Employment Minister under President John Dramani Mahama.

The current MP contested and won the Korley Klottey seat for the NDC two times in a row.
