Seven Strange Reasons Why Ewe Women Don’t Cheat In Marriage

Marriage cheating has become common in nearly every part of the world, Ghana being no exception. Cheating creates animosity and a potential breakdown with the associated consequences.

Causes of marriage cheating are not unusual and have been widely cited in the literature available. The key elements are lack of sexual compatibility; a long-term partner’s absence; lack of self-control; sheer aventure; communication deficiencies; revenge; drug influence; financial constraints and peer influence.

Allow me to make the following points before I proceed with the reasons why women in the Volta region do not want to cheat:

The Advent of Christianity has led to several aspects of our cultural practices being adulterated. It has also caused total disregard for the customs, values and standards previously cherished. This invariably leads to significant global changes in many traditional Ewe societies.

Be that as it may, it is also undisputed that some parents’ influence and socialization have not entirely disappeared from their children’s and grandchildren’s hearts. And so these values and traditional beliefs continue to be highly regarded.

Cheating is a no go area for women in many Ewe communities in the Volta region of Ghana. Because the consequences are extremely serious to contemplate. This article presents some of the main reasons why Ewe’s wife is restricted in extra-marital matters:

1. The fear of the death of your husband

In many typical Ewe homes, a woman has the chance to lose her husband when he sleeps with another man. Once you have betrothed your husband and eat your food, he may wind up in the mortuary. Many women therefore don’t try to sleep outside their marriage regardless of the conditions.

2. The fear of the death of your children

As an Ewe mother, you simply put your darling children’s life at risk by indulging in outside marriage. The male youngster usually gets sick in some traditional settings. When this happens, the woman should confess in front of the gods. If she did, the case would be reversed through ceremonies. But if the sick son opted to hide it, he could not heal, but kick the bucket.

3. The ability to get mad

This has happened to many promiscuous women engaged in adultery because of their lack of self-control. This generally happens in homes with some charms at the entrance of the house known as “dema.” You will have the potential to lose your health once you have crossed this “dema” in the house of your husband after you sleep with another man.

4. You can’t stay at the corpse of your husband when he dies

A woman who slept in marriage to another man cannot sit apart from the corpse of her husband when it is laid in a state at a funeral. It is thought that your presence with the dead body could impact it and cause unpleasant smells.

5. The opportunity to lose your life

Furthermore, when he dies, a woman who cheated on the husband during his lifetime cannot take part in “eyordzogbor.” “Eyordzogbor” is a special supper for the deceased’s wife. Some people believe that taking part in this feast will lead to curses that could lead to death.

6. The woman and her family are shameful

A woman found betraying her husband turns into a mockery in the neighborhood. Furthermore, it is a big humiliation to you and your family not to participate in “Eyordzogbor” when your husband dies. You’d undoubtedly become a source of discussion between your pears.

7. It results in divorce

This is not exclusive to Ewes alone. Cheating in many parts of the world is a major cause of divorce. While some men forgive the women for their love of her and the need to keep their kids together, others cannot bear it. Once you are cought, an outright divorce is eminent.
