It’s Senseless To Say NDC Gov’t Has Borrowed More – Mahama Jabs NPP

President John Mahama has rubbished claims by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that his government has borrowed more than any government in the history of Ghana.

According to the president, most politicians go around telling lies in order to win political power.

He said it doesn’t make mathematical sense to say his government has borrowed $37 billion while the national debt of the nation is $24 billion.

The President was speaking in an exclusive interview with TV3’s New Day.

The president therefore said he was willing to debate Nana Akufo Addo to prove his contentious claims

“Indeed he’s made a lot of contentious statements that I would have wished that you had him here, so that we would debate those issues, but essentially our parties are involved in agreeing the format of the debate, who organises it and all that, and, so, it’s not for me to say.

“I’m sure that the NDC party at the appropriate time, if they are invited to debate, will have to take a decision on whether they feel comfortable with whoever is organising the debate and all that, and, so, it’s not for me to say. But, like I said, I’m willing, even this afternoon, if Nana presented himself, to take him on all those contentious statements that he’s made,” Mahama said.
