Residents of Nyinahin called for proper libation to gods before the commencement of the bauxite

 

The residents of Nyinahin, Kyekyewere and Kyereyaso in the Atwima Mponua District has called for the proper performing of libation before the commencement of the mining of the Nyinahin bauxite. According to them, they have some river deities within the district especially river Amano which protect the people of Nyinahin so if they refused to perform a proper libation, the gods will not spare them their lives especially foreigners who is going to do the mining.
The leader of the Nyinahin youth association, Mr Kofi Owusu who disclose this to the media said, the youth have heard that,the gods has rejected the libation perform by the Nyinahin traditional council because they did not pass the right procedure which will have a negative impact on the people living in the community and the workers who is going to work.

He has then appealed to the government and the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II to called the leaders especially the Nyinahin traditional council to order so that proper libation would be done to avoid the wrath from the gods.

It could be recalled that, parliament passed the Master Project Support Agreement for a 2 billion dollar facility for the construction of priority projects by Chinese firm, SynoHydro Corporation .
The said facility would be in exchange for alumina processed from Bauxite deposit in the country as announced by the finance Minister ,Ken Ofori Atta in the mid year Budget Review.
Mr Offori Atta said in the mid year Budget Review that, the Sinohydro Group limited is expected to provide us$2 billion of infrastructure including roads ,bridges , hospitals, housing, rural electrification, in exchange for Ghana.
