RESIDENTS OF BOMASE CRY FOR ELECTRICITY

The people of BOMASE of the Upper Mannya Krobo District in the Eastern Region appealed to Hon. Joseph Tetteh and Hon. Felix Odjao Nartey to connect the community to the national Electricity grid.
BOMASE is one if the Community with residents growing cassava and other cash crops.
A visits to the community, revealed that the residents depends largely on candles and lanterns for light activities. The situation gathered, compels majority of them walk a distance of about 3 mikes to Communities like Sekesua and Asesewa before accessing Electricity.

Dade Manky3, Nene Tetteh Akwetey is worried the community has not developed socio – economically over the years as a result of absence of Electricity.
Nene Tetteh said lack of Electricity In the community is affecting the academic performance of children in the community, because after their house chores, it is already dark and if there is no Torchlight or kerosene the children are not able to do their homework.
He said the NDC government has built six unit Classroom block but there is no Electricity to motivate teachers to stay in the community to make teaching and learning effective.
The residents expressed concern about high rate of teenage pregnancy in the area which they blamed on high unemployment rate and the lack of Electricity In the community.
