Release our men, we can’t live without Tonga – Nzema women storm court to protest arrest of their men following riot

Release our men

Women in the town of Taleku Bukazu in Nzema have stormed court to demand the release of their men arrested for assaulting police officers.

Release our men

21 men in the town were arrested with many fleeing the town after clashing with the police.

It all started when a native of the town known as Andrew Donkor was killed by a security guard at the Adamus Mining Company in an argument.

This infuriated the men of the town to storm the mines to destroy stuff.

They then clashed with the police officers from Essiama Police Station and assaulted them.

As expected the Police stormed the town the following day to arrest the culprits and managed to pick 21 people with many men fleeing from the town.

Today when they were arraigned before court, women in the town stormed the court in large numbers to protest for the release of the men.

One woman who spoke to the media said they’ve been starving from ‘adult food’ ever since their husbands were arrested.

Another woman pleaded with the IGP to tell the Essiama Police to stop their random invasion of the town which has made their husbands flee.
