Real Madrid Ready To Finance Over £290m Package To Sign Haaland And Mbappe After Winning Super Copa

Real Madrid are preparing a financial package totalling £292million in order to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer.

Last month, Barcelona held a meeting with the player’s agent Mino Raiola while Dortmund recently confirmed that Real Madrid are among those who are interested in signing the Norwegian.

Barca president Joan Laporta’s reported confidence on signing the striker has sparked off what has been described as a ‘war’ between the club and El Clasico rivals Madrid – who have emerged as favourites to land the striker.

The Norwegian fuelled speculation of a transfer to La Liga earlier this month as he confirmed his desire to play in La Liga during his career.

Manchester United are said to have ended their interest in landing the superstar striker this year as a host of clubs circle around the player’s future.

Real Madrid are favourites to land the Scandinavian to complement their plan to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Mbappe is out of contract in the French capital this summer and has been allowed to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of France since the start of the month.

The fact that Los Blancos would not have to pay a transfer fee for the signing of the France international would allow them to not only offer a lucrative wage and signing-on package, along with agent fees, but to finance a move for Haaland too.

The 22-year-old has already established his status as a world class striker with a strike rate of better than a goal per game for Dortmund, netting 78 goals in 77 appearances since his switch from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago.

The details of Real Madrid’s intentions have been outlined by Marca, who detail how the entire cost of such an operation would be a whopping £292million.

That includes the £63million transfer fee – thought to be a release clause that kicks in this summer at Dortmund – alongside the player’s wages and the commission that would be demanded by Haaland’s agent Raiola.

It is reported that the Norwegian striker’s representative will push for him penning an extensive six-year contract at his next club, with the sizable wage packet being spread over the course of such a commitment.

Last month, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke explained : “It doesn’t matter where you go, everyone talks about Erling Haaland.

“The only thing I know is that Real Madrid are very interested in his signing.

“I could name you other 25 teams, but I know for a fact that Madrid are interested.”

Haaland has continued to break multiple goal scoring records, netting 27 goals in 25 matches across his games in European competitions.

In the 2020–21 campaign, Haaland was integral in Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal win, won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award and finished as the top scorer of the Champions League.

Speculation over the striker’s future is only likely to intensify in the weeks and months ahead as we edge towards the summer transfer window.
