Concerned Women of Bawku has formed a group to demand justice for a pregnant woman who was allegedly murdered by unknown males in Bawku on Tuesday.
The victim, whose name has been provided as Rukaya Awudu, is claimed to have been slain on Tuesday afternoon when she refused to give her suspected killers instructions to a certain David’s house.
Poanab Elizabeth Azonko, the group’s leader, spoke to the media on Wednesday evening, describing the act as “barbaric” and demanding the quick arrest and punishment of two people they allege murdered Rukaya.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s National Peace Council (NPC) has urged the contending sides in the Bawku conflict to settle their disagreements through negotiation.
According to reports, one person was murdered and numerous others were injured during hours of random shooting in Bawku, Upper East Region, on Monday, December 27th, 2021.
This comes after a similar occurrence a few weeks ago that prompted the government to enforce a curfew in the area.
According to reports, the shooting occurred as a result of a faction’s demands that the funeral of a chief who died 41 years ago be held in the region.
