The immediate past 2018 best Farmer in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Sefah a.k.a Ogya Nyame at Ogya Nyame Prayer Camp, lamented that, government has abandoned the poultry industry and it is at the verge of collapse.
Nana Sefah said little or no attention has been given to the poultry industry by the government, instead, attention is focused only on the Cocoa Farmers and the Fisheries Sector, although they all belong to the agriculture sector.
Nana Sefah told the media at his press conference that: “We are all in the agriculture sector, but why does government take steps to reduce prices of premix fuel, outboard motors and cool rooms for fishermen and there’s no budget for the poultry sector? The Senior Minister recently put some fingerlings into some of the dams for fish farming on 2017, but no attention for poultry at all.”
He, therefore, urged government to come out with a clear policy on poultry to help revive the industry
