Politics Shouldn’t Blind Your Love For Ghana – Zanetor To Citizens

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the NDC Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has warned young people not to let the temptation of politics impact their patriotism.

She stated that all young adults should strive to be of service to the country at all times.

She advised them to live their lives in accordance with the words of the national anthem and promise.

“As you grow older, you will find yourself in situations where you might align one way or the other with one political party or the other, but let us remember that at the end of the day, it is about Ghana and everything that we do must be about ensuring Ghana’s independence,” Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings said at the Independence Day Parade organized by the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly to mark the 65th anniversary of Ghana’s independence at the Accra High School at North Ridge in Accra.

“So that when we say we are Ghanaians, we all know what that means,” stated the Klottey Korle Parliamentarian, education should not only educate us to read and write, but also instill in us the values and ideas that bind us together as a nation.

“It’s not only about the Ghana flag or singing the national hymn; there’s a sense of belonging that we have as a country.” So don’t use meaningless words when reciting the national pledge and the national song! Allow these words to reverberate in your soul. Allow it to have meaning for you because these are the things that will guide you to being responsible people and citizens who will lead this country into a brighter future,” said Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings.

The first daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, speaking on leadership, said the centennial parade exemplifies what great leadership entails.

“You have to look at someone as a benchmark for where you put yourself,” she remarked, in order to “keep your lines straight.”

“Nation-building is no exception. It becomes disorganized even if you have a solid commander and the rest of the contingent does not align itself correctly in place and time. In other words, “individual accountability is crucial since it adds to the collective’s success or failure,” stated Klottey Korle MP.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings exhorted Ghanaian young to be dedicated to their country and participate in nation-building, advising them to be inspired by the song “Arise Ghana Youth for Your Country.”
