A Noncommissioned (NCO) Police Officer attending duty at Kotosaa near Juaboso in the Western North Region, has suffered an armed robbery attack and sustained eight gunshot wounds.
According to Inspector Anin Edward, a reinforcement from the district headquaters rescued and rushed the victim—No. 38773 G/SGT. Akoka Thomas—to Saint John of God Hospital in Sefwi Asafo for treatment upon receiving a distress call.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at about 1300 hours when the NCO was on escort duty at the said location.
The Inspector noted that the victim is currently responding to treatment has also responded to the goodwill messages sent to him.
“At the Emergency ward, the subject was seen responding to treatment. Greetings from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Director-General (DG), Welfare was extended to him and he was happy and thanked the IGP and DG Welfare and the entire welfare steering committee members for the support,” the Inspector reported.
He added that “the medical officer informed the police that they will do everything to treat him” and that the public will be updated as new developments unfold.
