2021 VGMA Artist of the Year, Diana Hamilton has pleaded with Ghanaians who are of the view that she didn’t deserve to win the most coveted VGMA award to enable her to enjoy her award.
According to the “W’asem” singer, the seeming comparison between her and Kidi about who deserved the plaque doesn’t bother her at all.
“Kidi is a great and a respectable person, we have met, he congratulated me and I congratulated him, but so far my team and I have not had a joint task planned for Kidi and I, if that notion comes in, I will let the world know.”
“I believe I should be allowed to bask in the glory of being named artiste of the year. VGMA is about great music, not necessarily gospel music or any genre,” she told Foster Aggor on StarrDrive.
“The scheme spelt out the requirements for that category, Great music was honoured for what it did, and we were there because of great music, not gospel,” she continued.
The singer also thanked her crew for helping her promote her music.
She also took home three more awards on the night, including Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, and Gospel Song of the Year.
