According to official media, the Boeing 737 jet crash in a hilly terrain resulted in a forest fire.

Flight MU5735 was en route to Guangzhou and was due to depart Kunming at 13:15 local time (05:15 GMT).

The jet was in the air for slightly over an hour, according to flight tracking sites.

The plane crashed in Wuzhou province’s Teng county. Guangxi is a province in southern China that borders Guangzhou, a large metropolis in the southeast.

According to CCTV, rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene.
