Pep Guardiola Confirms Nature Of Erling Haaland’s Injury

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that Erling Haaland is dealing with a ligament injury.

The Norway international missed Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Leicester City, having been substituted at half-time of the recent draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Pressed for an update by the BBC, Guardiola admitted he is unsure when Haaland will be ready to return to action.

“I don’t know. He has ligament damage. He feels better, we have one more week,” the Spaniard said.

“He won’t play against Sevilla because we’ve already qualified and hopefully against Fulham he can help us. If not he might play against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.”

In his place, Julian Alvarez was given his second Premier League start of the season, but the Argentine failed to match Haaland’s goalscoring pace and it was Kevin De Bruyne who came to City’s rescue with a glorious free-kick.

With Haaland set to be rested against Sevilla, Alvarez will get another chance to shine and Guardiola, much like every Fantasy Premier League manager, will be hopeful of seeing the league’s top scorer return against Fulham.
