Oppong Nkrumah Replies Journalists Revealing Death Threats On Their Lives Post Election

Information Minister Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has released a statement of assurance to all the journalist who have complained of threads from unknown persons post elections.

According to Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah, number of journalists have reported threats and at least one (1) robbery in the aftermath of the 2020 elections.

It has been suggested that these threats are associated with their work as journalists.

He said it is of critical importance that the security agencies get to the bottom of these complaints and use all the legitimate means at their disposal to unmask the identities of the culprits, whatever their motives, and arrest and prosecute them with speed.

He also added that Ghana is always ready to protect journalists right and freedoms.

“Ghana’s enviable reputation as a protector of journalists’ rights and freedoms must be preserved.” He said

He further sent a shout out to Manasseh Awuni, Captain Smart, Afia Pokua et al, and assured them that his thoughts are with them and will do anything in their power to give them the protection they deserve.
