NYINAHIN YOUTH CALL FOR NEGOTIATION WITH GOV’T OVER AMANANO BAUXITE MINING.

 

The youth of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua district and it environs have vowed to unleashed the government over it commencement of Nyinahin mining in the community without proper negotiations with the surrounding communities.

 

 

 

The leaders and major stakeholders of the aggrieved youth narrated their ordeal to the press,adding that, due hazardous nature of mining companies, they don’t want the problems of Awaso bauxite, and some other mining companies repeat itself hence they have officially written to the Presidency requesting them to meet the community over the pros and cons of the mining but have refused.

“We have officially written a letter to the Presidency requesting them to meet the entire community over the mining issue ,but it couldn’t bear any fruit hence this statement,our reasons to possibly prevent the imposition of the mining are as follows :

1)Government inability to accept a single proposal among a lot of proposal sent to the Presidency by some identifiable groups within the Nyinahin bauxite catchment areas.

2) Government not involving qualified and competent people from our areas to the constituted board.

3)Government refusal to eliminating the troublesome Nyinahin chief from the board, since he chief is always at warpath with the youth in the community.

4)To avoid repetition of serious environmental challenges posed on some mining communities, such as Tarkwa , Awaso, Obuasi etc.

5)Government inability to outlined social interventions for the catchment areas.

Moreover, the group is with the view that, the government and the authorities of the mining should respect the surrounding communities and be sincere in their dealings to avoid future concurrencies as stated
