The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are expected to hand over power to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
This is according to the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), a credible international Economic and Political Research Consultancy group which previously predicted the outcomes of Ghana’s election in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020 with 100% accuracy.
According to theur latest report, the NDC will win the 2024 polls due to some factors.
The EIU said its “baseline forecast is that ongoing public dissatisfaction with the slow pace of improvements in governance—such as infrastructure development, job creation and easing of corruption—will trigger anti-incumbency factors and push the electorate to seek a change.”
“The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. Under constitutionally mandated term limits, the incumbent president, Mr Akufo-Addo, cannot run for a third term. The former president, John Mahama, is reportedly considering running again, but we expect the opposition NDC to try to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate”, mynewsgh reported.
Meanwhile the opposition NDC are yet to decide on who will lead them to victory in 2024 with its 2020 candidate John Dramani Mahama been contested by former Central Bank Governor and Financce Minister Kwabena Duffour.
