NPP thrown out of court, fined GH¢14,000

A Wenchi High Court has thrown out a case brought before it by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against the Electoral Commission(EC) in the Parliamentary election held in 2020.

The Court which described the case brought before it as “irredeemably incompetent” fined the NPP GHC¢14,000.

The ruling of the court paves way for the electoral commission to declare the winner in the just ended parliamentary race in the Sene West Constituency.

The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Joseph Markay Kuma had filed the suit after expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as electoral irregularities in the Sene West constituency.

The court had earlier fined the NPP GHC 6,000 for the withdrawal of their petition for the interlocutory injunction.

There was heavy security presence at the court when the declaration was been made.
