NPP Primaries: “An empty barrel” is trying to contest me”-Kyei Mensah Bonsu

The Member of Parliament(MP) for Suame and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is confident of winning the parliamentary primary in the Suame Constituency, wondering why John Darko whom he defeated in 2015 is still in the race against him,  and is making “noise” about his chances to unseat him.

Speaking to the media on the parliamentary primaries of New Patriotic Party(NPP)which would be held on April 25, 2020,  one of the country’s longest serving lawmakers declared that his opponents had no way of beating him in the election and were merely making noise.

“A certain John Darko wants to have some relevance to himself. He contested me the other time and garnered about 56 votes. So I don’t know why he is making noise. As it is said, empty barrels make the most noise. I am concentrating on what I need to do in Parliament, for the party and for Parliament as an institution,” he stated

There have been calls for persons who occupy key positions such as the Majority leader and the first deputy speaker of Parliament to not be contested so that they can concentrate on their work for Parliament and the party.

But the calls have yielded no results since several of these key officials are being contested.
