NPP Members Vandalize Elmina-Based Radio Station

Three persons suspected to be members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Elmina in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abraim Municipality have allegedly vandalized the studio of Benya FM during a live program.

The Programmes Manager of the station, Kweku Kaunda, disclosed that the thugs carried out the attack on Monday, May 16, 2022 around 9:30 PM while its weekly programme “Afar Kua” was ongoing.

According to him, they were discussing issues of premix fuel for fishermen in the town when the attack happened.

He, however, indicated that they cannot state the motive for the attack adding that the suspected thugs stormed the studio and held the host hostage.

Mr. Kaunda indicated that the host was assaulted as he was kicked several times leaving him in pain and now receiving treatment at the Elmina hospital.

According to the manager, the station’s equipment such as consoles, microphones, computers and furniture were all destroyed.

The case has since been reported to the police.
