The national chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay, has revealed that plans for the Parliamentary chamber have not been aborted.
According to him, the edifice would be constructed in future even though plans for it are currently on hold.
He added that the government needs to team up with Parliament to strategise on the construction of the complex for the Legislature.
“Maybe we need to as it is, analyse it, interrogate it, and see the way forward if not today it will be tomorrow. It will have to happen,” he said.
Per a report by myjoyonline.com, he stated that there was a challenge with the packaging of the plan for the chamber.
In his opinion, the timing of the announcement by the Speaker, Professor Aaron Michael Ocquaye, was a contributing factor to its failure.
Other notable personalities such as the majority leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, explained that the current building was for purpose-built for legislative business.
To him, the 275-seater chamber was congested, making it difficult to see some lawmakers who sat behind huge columns.
He also expressed worry about the porous security MPs and the Speaker have had to countenance.
In other news, the minister of agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has revealed that the government of Ghana and its Chinese counterpart are on the verge of signing a 100 million dollar deal to construct a chocolate factory at Sefwi-Wiaso in the Western North Region.
Speaking at a coach supply chain program organized by Ecobank Ghana, the sector minister noted that the partnership deal would soon be signed in Ghana.
