North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa inspects theatre project at St. Anne’s polyclinic

Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has inspected an ongoing surgical theatre at the St. Anne’s Polyclinic in his constituency.

He inspected the project on Friday, April 16, 2021. The visit was to afford him the opportunity to know the status of the project.

The project which was started in December 2020 is expected to be completed in August 2021.

It will house two theatre rooms, two offices for medical doctors, an office for nurses, two recovery rooms, changing rooms and sanitary facilities after completion.

It is a partnership between Manos Unidas from Spain and Mr. Ablakwa.

Mr. Kornu Reuben, the Project Consultant to Keta Akatsi Dioces said the project is 30% complete.

He also assured Mr. Ablakwa that the project will be complete within schedule.

He further disclosed that the donors are funding the cost of the theatre and Mr. Ablakwa is providing funding of GHS150,000 for the procurement of equipment for the edifice.

“This project has been funded by Manos Unidas at a cost of $91,000 which is for the completion of the theatre and the MP has promised to contribute GHS150,000 towards equipping the facility.”

“Now, 30% of the money from the donors has been released and the project is also currently 30% complete, and we are to write a report to the donors and the MP.”

Dr Momodou Cham, a Public Health Physician at the facility mentioned the challenges the project faced from the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

He also disclosed that funding for the project was very difficult, but had to convince the donors and the MP of the need for the facility.

“It has been very difficult securing funding for this project and continuation of the project when the COVID-19 outbreak struck because the donors were worried and in fact funding did delay, but we had to assure our donors that the government is dealing with the pandemic and the measures put in place were good.”

The North Tongu lawmaker on his part assured of his continued support for the successful completion of the theatre.

He said his contribution will be made in no time for the benefit of his constituents and Ghanaians at large.

“I want to renew my commitment that I have to do as part of this partnership, I will deliver it on time and make sure this project is fully completed and operationalized, and by the time this project will be commissioned, all my commitments would have to made available.”

He also expressed his appreciation to the donors for not abandoning the project when the pandemic struck.

The project when completed will not only serve residents close to the St. Anne’s Polyclinic in Tagadzi but it will also be beneficial to the entire Dorfor/Fodzoku/Volo/Torgorme enclave within the North Tongu constituency.
