New Inter-City Bus Terminal Opens At Circle

2M Express, a newly established transport service provider, has opened a state-of-the-art bus terminal at Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

The over 50 Toyota Hiace mini buses would ply the Accra-Kumasi and Takoradi routes.

Speaking at the grand opening of the terminal at Nkrumah Circle, Dr Sefah Bediako, Chief Operating Officer of 2M Express, said the transport company was borne out of MGI group.

He said 2M Express had been established to provide safe and comfortable transport services to commuters plying Accra to Kumasi and Takoradi routes.

Dr Bediako noted that travelling must be safe and comfortable and it was for this reason that managers of 2M Express were using new buses with experienced drivers to ensure that they record accident-free trips.

“Accidents on our roads have been attributed to fatigue and recklessness on the part of drivers on our roads aside from the deplorable states of our roads, but 2M drivers, who are well experienced, will be monitored 24 hours to ensure that the right thing is done on our roads,” he said.

“We have also installed devices in our ultra modern vehicles which will prompt our operational team when a driver goes beyond our required speed limits; all these are to ensure that our passengers are safe while delivering quality services as well,” he added.

The chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Transport, Isaac Adongo, who cut the sod for the official opening of the terminal, said transport plays an important role in the development of a country which is why as a legislator, he endorses the establishment of 2M Transport Company to add up to the existing ones operating in the country.

He urged passengers to report any reckless driver who misbehaves on our roads to the authority and this can reduce road accidents and indiscipline on our roads.

2M Express Limited started on a pilot basis last year with 20 buses. The new terminal opened at Nkrumah Circle has facilities including a rest room where passengers can take their bath before boarding the vehicle.

It also has a car park for passengers with cars and security personnel deployed to guard them, including waiting and ticking rooms and other offices.
