NDC Flagbearership: Duffuor Will Struggle To Get 20% Ggainst Mahama – Ephson

Renowned pollster, Ben Ephson, has dismissed the chances of former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, beating former President John Mahama to become the flagbearer of the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections.

The Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper added that he will be surprised if, Dr Duffuor who was also the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana manages 20 per cent of the total votes cast during the NDC flagbearership primaries which is likely to be held in 2022.

Rumours have been rife that the astute Businessman is lacing up his boots to contest former President Mahama for the flagbearership of the NDC.

Several Ghanaians have expressed by the rumours since the majority of Ghanaians believed that Dr Duffuor was a major financier of the NDC.

But speaking on the Morning Starr on Monday, Mr Ephson said, “he [Duffuor] will struggle to get 20 per cent…remember in 2018 Mahama got 95 per cent of the votes.”

Mr Ephson also expressed doubts that Ghanaians will vote for any candidate over the age of 70 years to lead the country.

Meanwhile, Mr Ephson has urged President Akufo-Addo to sack Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen and Agric Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto from his government since he acknowledges that they want to contest for the presidency.

“The President must sack the two Ministers once he himself has acknowledged that they are interested in the Presidency. By the same rule that applied with Joe Ghartey when he spoke in that radio interview, he must sack the two.

“The President had said that he will not allow people to be ministers and still campaign to be president and that rule affected Joe Ghartey”.
